PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
The “International Trade Policy and Law” program is a 12-week course designed to provide participants with a deep understanding of the principles, policies, and legal frameworks that govern international trade. Tailored for business professionals, policymakers, legal practitioners, and students, this course aims to enhance knowledge of global trade dynamics, develop effective trade strategies, and navigate the legal complexities of international trade agreements and disputes. The course ensures that participants can apply what they have learned to real-world trade policies or legal issues by combining academic knowledge with practical applications.

CURRICULUM
The course is structured into twelve modules, each of which focuses on crucial areas of international trade policy and law. To guarantee that the subject is fully understood and applied in real-world situations, the modules comprise lectures, case studies, practical exercises, and assessments. Participants will:

» Understand historical development, fundamental concepts, and current trends in global trade.

» Study classical and modern trade theories and their practical applications.

» Learn about tariffs, quotas, subsidies, non-tariff barriers, and their objectives and impacts.

» Explore trade policy formulation, stakeholder roles, and legal frameworks like the WTO and RTAs.

» Examine legal and regulatory issues in trade of goods and services, and efficiency measures.

» Understand intellectual property rights, TRIPS Agreement, and trade dispute resolution processes.

» Analyze current trade issues, such as trade wars, protectionism, digital trade, and global supply chains.

Elvis is a professor of financial economics with over 20 years' experience in his specialised field. He is the President of Accra Business School and doubles up as President of the Institute of Economics and Finance. He has worked with various financial institutions including the African Development Bank in Tunisia. He has assessed and managed loan portfolio projects across various sectors and industries for quite a number of countries including Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and Seychelles. He consults for international organisations, diplomatic missions, governments, and private sector institutions.
